Same-day crowns in Seattle

Smile Art uses digital scanning and CAD/CAM technology to design and complete selected dental crowns during one restorative visit.

Dr. Jaime Lee first determines what the tooth needs structurally, then uses the digital workflow when the planned crown can be completed within the same appointment.

Why might a same-day crown be used?

A same-day crown combines tooth preparation, digital scanning, computer-aided design and manufacturing, and final placement within one coordinated restorative workflow.

Making the crown in one visit does not change why the tooth needs full coverage. Dr. Lee still bases the restoration on the remaining tooth structure, the condition of the tooth, and the way the crown must function within your bite.

  • Digital scan instead of a conventional crown impression
  • Crown design based on the prepared tooth and bite
  • CAD/CAM fabrication during the visit
  • Final fit and bite evaluation before placement

What happens during a same-day crown visit?

Prepare the tooth

Dr. Lee removes damaged or unsupported structure and prepares the tooth for the planned crown.

Scan and design

A digital scan records the prepared tooth, neighboring teeth, and bite. Dr. Lee uses the digital model to design the crown.

Fabricate and place

CAD/CAM equipment manufactures the restoration during the visit. Dr. Lee then evaluates the crown's fit, contacts, contour, and bite before final placement.

How does same-day crown treatment work?

  1. Evaluate the tooth. Dr. Lee confirms that a crown is the appropriate restoration and defines the structural requirements of the tooth.
  2. Digital scan. The prepared tooth and surrounding bite are captured digitally for crown design.
  3. Computer-aided design. Dr. Lee uses the digital record to shape the restoration around the tooth, neighboring contacts, and bite.
  4. Computer-aided manufacturing. The CAD/CAM system fabricates the planned crown during the visit.
  5. Final evaluation. Dr. Lee checks the fit and bite and completes placement after the restoration meets the fit and bite requirements of the tooth.

Am I a candidate for a same-day crown?

A same-day crown may fit a tooth that needs full coverage when the digital design and fabrication can be completed during the restorative visit.

Teeth that need another treatment stage first follow a different sequence even if a crown will ultimately be part of the plan.

Can I get a crown in one day?

The one-visit workflow is an option when the tooth can be prepared, scanned, and restored directly. Some teeth may need other care, such as root canal treatment, before the final crown can be completed.

If a crown or tooth breaks unexpectedly, schedule an evaluation so Dr. Lee can determine the condition of the remaining structure before planning the restoration.

What affects the cost of a same-day crown?

The cost is based on the crown treatment itself, the condition of the tooth, any diagnostic or preparatory care, and your dental benefits. Smile Art accepts all PPO dental plans and can verify how your coverage applies to the planned restoration.

Frequently asked questions

What is a same-day crown?

A same-day crown is designed, fabricated, and placed through a digital CAD/CAM workflow during one restorative appointment when the tooth and treatment plan fit that process.

Is a same-day crown different from a regular crown?

The restorative purpose is the same: both cover and rebuild a prepared tooth. The difference is the fabrication workflow, with the same-day crown designed and manufactured digitally during the visit.

What technology does Smile Art use for same-day crowns?

Smile Art uses digital scanning and CAD/CAM technology to capture the prepared tooth, design the crown, manufacture the restoration, and complete the clinical fit evaluation during the same-day workflow.

Will I need a temporary crown?

When the final crown is completed and placed during the same-day workflow, a temporary crown is not used between separate crown appointments.

How does the digital scan help design my crown?

She uses a digital scan of the prepared tooth, neighboring teeth, and bite to design the restoration, then evaluates the completed crown clinically before placement.

Can every crown be completed in one visit?

No. Dr. Lee first evaluates the tooth and the restorative requirements. The same-day workflow is used when the planned crown can be completed through Smile Art's CAD/CAM process.

What if the tooth needs other treatment first?

Dr. Lee addresses the underlying condition before finalizing the crown plan. Additional restorative or endodontic treatment can change the sequence even when CAD/CAM technology is available.

Does Smile Art accept insurance for same-day crowns?

Smile Art accepts all PPO dental plans. The team can verify your benefits and explain how your coverage applies to the planned crown treatment.
